Windows God Mode: Unlocking Every Setting in One Folder

“God Mode” is a hidden special folder built directly into Windows that gives you a single window listing virtually every Control Panel setting the operating system has to offer — over 200 settings in one place, without hunting through nested Control Panel and Settings menus. You don’t need to download or install anything to get it; it’s built in.

Creating It

1. Right-click on your Desktop (or in any folder) and choose New > Folder.
2. Rename the new folder to exactly the following, including the curly braces:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

As soon as you press Enter, the folder’s icon changes to a Control Panel icon and its name disappears, leaving just the icon. Double-click it to open the full God Mode settings list.

A Security Note

You may see older guides recommending a downloadable third-party installer to get this feature — that’s unnecessary and worth avoiding, since it means running an unverified executable with administrative access purely to create what is, at its core, a specially-named empty folder using a built-in Windows shell feature. The method above achieves the identical result using nothing but Windows itself. This trick works on Windows 7 through Windows 11, and the equivalent Windows Server desktop experience releases.

Still Works on Current Windows (Updated for 2026)

This trick remains unchanged on current Windows 11 releases (24H2/25H2) — the same GUID-named folder still resolves to the full settings list. It’s one of the more stable pieces of Windows shell trivia, since it relies on a built-in CLSID rather than anything Microsoft has had reason to touch across feature updates.
