Everything you need to save a profile
No more screenshots, and no more opening posts one at a time.
The whole profile
Grid Saver scrolls the profile for you and picks up every post as it loads, however far back it goes.
Full-size photos
Instagram shows you a smaller copy in the grid. Grid Saver saves the largest version Instagram has for each photo.
Every carousel slide
Posts with several photos come down in full, one file per slide, numbered in order.
Reels and videos
Reels and video posts come down as MP4 files. Untick Include videos if you only want the photos.
Duplicates taken out
The same picture posted twice, or a smaller copy of one you already have, is removed. The biggest copy is kept.
Just one post
Open a single post or reel instead of a profile and Grid Saver saves only that one.
You choose what goes in
A preview grid shows everything before it downloads. Untick anything you don’t want.
One tidy ZIP
Newest first, with the account name and the date in every file name, all in a single download.
A list of every post
An optional spreadsheet (CSV) lists each post’s link, date, size and caption.
How to install it
On Microsoft Edge, the easiest way is the Edge Add-ons store: click Get and it installs and updates itself. For Chrome, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi it takes about a minute, and you only do it once.
Download and unzip
Download the ZIP and unzip it somewhere you will keep it, such as Documents. The browser runs the extension from that folder, so leave it there.
Open your extensions page
Type chrome://extensions in the address bar. In Edge use edge://extensions, in Brave brave://extensions.
Switch on Developer mode
The switch is top right in Chrome and Brave, and bottom left in Edge. It just lets you add an extension from a folder.
Load unpacked
Click Load unpacked and pick the grid-saver folder. Then pin the Grid Saver icon from the puzzle piece menu.
On Firefox, download the Firefox version, open about:debugging, choose This Firefox, then Load Temporary Add-on and pick the ZIP. Firefox removes temporary add-ons when it closes, so the Firefox Add-ons listing will be the easier option once it is approved.

Is Grid Saver really free?
Yes. There is no Pro version, no ads, no limit on how many posts you save and nothing to sign up for. It is open source under the GPL-3.0, so you can read every line of it on GitHub.
Does Grid Saver collect any of my data?
No. Everything happens inside your own browser. Grid Saver reads what Instagram already sends to the page you are looking at and downloads the files from Instagram’s own servers. There is no account, no analytics and nothing is sent anywhere else.
Do I need to log in?
You need to be signed in to Instagram in the same browser to see a whole profile, just as you would to scroll it yourself. Grid Saver never asks for or sees your password.
Can it save private accounts?
Only accounts you can already see. If a profile is private, you need to follow it first.
It says it was added after the page opened. What do I do?
Grid Saver has to be running before Instagram loads its posts. Refresh the page once and click the icon again.
Can it save stories or highlights?
Not in this version. It saves posts, carousels and reels from a profile or a single post.
Is Grid Saver on the Edge Add-ons store?
Yes. On Microsoft Edge, install it from the Edge Add-ons store and it updates itself. On Chrome, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi, download the ZIP from this page and add it with Load unpacked.
Does it work on Firefox?
Yes. Download the Firefox version from this page. A Firefox Add-ons listing is in review and will make installing it permanent.
Can I use the photos however I like?
The photos and videos still belong to the people who made them. Grid Saver is ideal for backing up your own account or keeping content you have permission to use, but you need the owner’s permission before reposting anyone else’s work.
