Useful Download Links for IT Deployment

When you’re packaging software for enterprise deployment — via SCCM/ConfigMgr, Intune, or a plain Group Policy startup script — you generally want the native MSI installer rather than the consumer EXE bootstrapper, since MSIs support silent, unattended installation and proper detection rules out of the box. A few commonly-needed sources for IT deployment work:

• Adobe Reader MSI: Adobe publishes enterprise MSI installers separately from the consumer download — check Adobe’s enterprise distribution portal rather than the standard adobe.com download, which serves the consumer bootstrapper.
• Adobe Shockwave: Shockwave Player reached end of life in 2019 and Adobe no longer distributes or supports it — if you’re still deploying it, treat this as a sign to retire whatever legacy content depends on it rather than continuing to package it.
• Google Chrome Enterprise: Google provides a dedicated Chrome Enterprise MSI bundle with Group Policy ADMX templates, separate from the standard consumer installer, purpose-built for managed deployment.

As with any deployment source, always grab the current installer directly from the vendor rather than an old cached copy, since silent-install switches and MSI product codes do change between releases.

Major Update: Two of These Links Are Now Dead (Updated for 2026)

Two of the original resource links no longer work and shouldn’t be used: the Skype MSI Download Site link is dead because Microsoft fully retired the classic Skype app on 5 May 2025 — there’s no longer a Skype installer to distribute at all, and anyone still on Skype was migrated to (free) Microsoft Teams instead, which existing Skype credentials still sign into. Separately, the Adobe Reader FTP Site link (ftp://ftp.adobe.com/...) won’t open in any current browser regardless of whether the server itself is still up — Chrome dropped FTP support in 2021 and Firefox did the same the same year, so ftp:// links are simply unusable from a modern browser. For current Acrobat Reader enterprise deployment, use Adobe’s own Admin Console (helpx.adobe.com/enterprise/admin-guide.html), which documents MSI/command-line installs alongside native Intune and Jamf Pro packaging — a cleaner, currently-supported path than the old FTP mirror ever was.
