HP LaserJet P2015 Reset: Restoring Factory Default Settings

Reset HP LaserJet P2015 printer to factory settings.

How To Reset Your Hp Laserjet P2015 To Factory Default Settings

Resetting an HP LaserJet P2015 to Factory Defaults

If you’ve inherited an HP LaserJet P2015 with an unknown static IP configuration, or you just want to wipe its settings back to a known-good state before redeploying it, a factory reset is done entirely from the printer’s own control panel — no PC or cable required.

With the printer powered on:

  • Turn the printer off using the power switch.
  • Hold down the Go button on the control panel.
  • While still holding Go, turn the printer back on.
  • Keep holding Go for around five seconds, until all three status lights (Ready, Data, Attention) are lit.
  • Release the Go button. The printer will cycle through its lights and then return to the Ready state with factory defaults restored — including the static IP address being cleared back to DHCP.

Once it’s back up, you can reassign a static IP (or leave it on DHCP) through the printer’s embedded web server or the control panel menu, depending on how your network is set up.

Still the Only Reset Method — and a Driver Note for Windows 11 (Updated for 2026)

The P2015’s control panel has only two buttons (Go and Cancel) and six status lights — no display, no menu system. That means the Go-button power-on combo above genuinely is the only on-device reset method available; there’s no menu route to it the way there is on printers with a screen. A networked P2015n/dn/x can also have some settings reset via its Embedded Web Server over a browser, but that’s not a substitute for a full factory reset — just an alternative way to change individual settings afterwards.

On the driver side, HP no longer publishes a P2015-specific package for current Windows — Windows 11 setups need to use the shared HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) instead (HP’s support site still lists current UPD builds for this model, just no dedicated one). Worth knowing before you redeploy this printer: point Windows 11 at the UPD rather than searching for a native P2015 driver that no longer exists.

  1. Hello. Can you install the Formatter Board of a P2015dn printer to a P2015d series? The dn series has the Internet port but the d series doesn’t. I would like to know if these boards are interchangeable. Thank you
