Initial Impressions: Unboxing the Simba Double Mattress

Since I spend a lot of time in my bed, I thought it was about time to upgrade my battered old mattress. So, I’ve got my hands on a new double mattress from Simba, and I’m eager to dive into the testing process, so let’s kick things off with my first impressions.

Delivery and Packaging

The mattress was delivered in a large, very heavy box with it rolled up and packaged in a vacuum wrap. The box was very easy to remove and once the vacuum wrapping had been opened using some standard kitchen scissors, it popped out into shape. I could tell that Simba put a lot of thought into their products given the high standard of packaging. The mattress itself looks sleek and feels plush to the touch and the top layer is extremely soft and comfortable.

Real Life Review

Now, onto the real deal – putting this bad boy through its paces! Over the next few weeks, I’ll be snoozing, lounging, and basically living on this mattress to see how it holds up. Having kids in the house who are going through a stage of bouncing on the bed will also test it to the max!

Following up briefly since first unboxing this: Simba is still an active, trading UK mattress brand as of 2026, and their Hybrid range (including the Hybrid Essential and Hybrid Pro) remains available in Double, with fresh reviews of the current lineup still being published. Their standard terms haven’t changed either — a 200-night risk-free trial and a 10-year guarantee still apply to current purchases, the same terms that would have applied when this one was unboxed.
