This policy covers the SpeedGeek browser extension, made by TechyGeeksHome.
What SpeedGeek collects
Nothing. SpeedGeek does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
How it works
- It changes the playback speed of video and audio on web pages, inside your browser.
- On the welcome page you choose where it works. On every site asks for site access so your keys work as soon as a page opens. Only when I click the icon needs no site access: it works on the tab you click it on until the page reloads.
- The small page script only looks for video and audio elements and listens for your speed keys. It does not read or keep anything else on the page.
- Nothing is sent to TechyGeeksHome or to any other third party.
What is stored on your computer
SpeedGeek keeps your settings, your keys, your never-run site list and the speed you chose for each site in your browser’s extension storage. None of it is transmitted anywhere, and removing the extension deletes it.
Permissions
- storage: remembers your settings, your keys and the speed you chose for each site.
- scripting: adds the small speed script to pages (to every site if you allow it, otherwise only to the tab where you click the icon).
- activeTab: lets it work on the tab you are on when you click its icon, without any other site access.
- Optional site access: asked only if you choose On every site, never at install, and removed again if you switch to Only when I click the icon.
