This policy covers the Page Saver browser extension, made by TechyGeeksHome.
What Page Saver collects
Nothing. Page Saver does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
How it works
- While you browse, it notes the addresses of video files and video playlists each tab loads, so it can find streamed video when you click its icon. This list stays on your computer, is replaced when the tab opens a new page, and is forgotten when the tab closes. It is never sent anywhere.
- When you click its icon, it reads the page you have open to find its images and videos, scrolling the page so pictures that load late appear.
- It downloads the files straight from the website’s own servers. Those requests carry the page you were on as the referrer, as the page’s own requests would, because many sites refuse files requested from anywhere else.
- All processing, including choosing the biggest copy of each picture, joining video streams into one file, duplicate detection and building the ZIP file, happens on your own computer, inside your browser.
- Nothing is sent to TechyGeeksHome or to any other third party.
What is stored on your computer
Page Saver saves your filter settings (minimum size and duplicate removal), the list of videos each open tab has loaded (until the tab closes), and, for up to a day, the list from your most recent scan so the results tab can show it. This stays in your browser’s extension storage and is never transmitted anywhere. Removing the extension deletes it.
Permissions
- Access to all websites: to read the page you click it on and download its images and videos, which can be on any website.
- webRequest: to notice when a tab loads a video file or video playlist. It only looks at the address and file type, never at what you type or send.
- declarativeNetRequest: to send the page you were on as the referrer when the results tab downloads its files.
- scripting: to show the progress panel and read the page you have open, when you click the icon.
- downloads: to save the ZIP file or video to your computer.
- storage and unlimitedStorage: to keep your settings and the current scan locally, including on very large pages.
