This policy covers the VolumeGeek browser extension, made by TechyGeeksHome.
What VolumeGeek collects
Nothing. VolumeGeek does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
How it works
- It only works on a tab after you click its button on that tab.
- On Chrome and Edge it takes that tab’s sound, changes the volume and tone, and plays it back to you through a hidden extension page, all inside your browser.
- On Firefox it adds a small script to that tab only, which sends the page’s audio and video players through the same volume and equaliser.
- The sound is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere.
- Nothing is sent to TechyGeeksHome or to any other third party.
What is stored on your computer
VolumeGeek keeps each tab’s level while the browser is open, and the sites you ticked Remember for this site, in your browser’s extension storage. None of it is transmitted anywhere, and removing the extension deletes it.
Permissions
- tabCapture (Chrome and Edge): takes the sound of the tab you change, only after you click the VolumeGeek button on that tab.
- offscreen (Chrome and Edge): opens a hidden extension page that plays the changed sound back to you.
- activeTab: lets VolumeGeek work on the tab you are on when you click its button.
- scripting (Firefox): adds the small script that sends the page’s players through the volume and equaliser, on that tab only.
- storage: remembers each tab’s level and the sites you ticked Remember for this site.
