This policy covers the ColorGeek browser extension, made by TechyGeeksHome.
What ColorGeek collects
Nothing. ColorGeek does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
How it works
- It only acts when you click its icon, press its shortcut (Alt+Shift+E) or choose Pick a colour from the right-click menu.
- In Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi, Pick a colour opens the browser’s own eyedropper. The browser hands ColorGeek only the colour you clicked.
- For the magnifier, it takes a picture of the tab you are on, shows a zoomed lens over the page and reads the colour under the pointer, all inside your browser. The picture is thrown away when you finish.
- It has no host permissions and no network access, so it cannot read other sites in the background or send anything anywhere.
- Nothing is sent to TechyGeeksHome or to any other third party.
What is stored on your computer
ColorGeek keeps your last 24 colours and your chosen format (HEX, RGB or HSL) in your browser’s extension storage. None of it is transmitted anywhere, and removing the extension deletes it.
Permissions
- activeTab: lets ColorGeek take a picture of the tab you are on, only after you click its icon, press its shortcut or use its right-click item.
- scripting: adds the magnifier to that page when you start a pick, and removes it when you are done.
- storage: keeps your recent colours and your chosen format on your computer.
- contextMenus: adds Pick a colour to the right-click menu.
- clipboardWrite: copies the colour you picked.
