This policy covers the Markdown Saver browser extension, made by TechyGeeksHome.
What Markdown Saver collects
Nothing. Markdown Saver does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
How it works
- It only reads a page when you click its icon or choose Save page as Markdown or Save selection as Markdown from the right-click menu on that page.
- It turns the page, or the part you selected, into Markdown inside your browser and shows it in an editor tab.
- If you choose Download ZIP with images, it fetches the page’s pictures the same way the page itself does, and puts them in the ZIP on your computer.
- It has no access to any site in the background.
- Nothing is sent to TechyGeeksHome or to any other third party.
What is stored on your computer
Markdown Saver keeps your settings in your browser’s extension storage. The page you are saving is held in session storage only until the browser closes, so the editor tab can show it. None of it is transmitted anywhere, and removing the extension deletes it. The files you download are saved in your own Downloads folder.
Permissions
- activeTab: reads the page you clicked the icon on, only at that moment.
- scripting: runs the article finder in that page and fetches its pictures for the ZIP.
- contextMenus: adds Save page as Markdown and Save selection as Markdown to the right-click menu.
- downloads: saves the .md file or the ZIP to your Downloads folder.
- storage: remembers your settings and holds the page for the editor tab until the browser closes.
- clipboardWrite: lets the Copy button put the Markdown on the clipboard.
