This policy covers the RefreshGeek browser extension, made by TechyGeeksHome.
What RefreshGeek collects
Nothing. RefreshGeek does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
How it works
- It only acts on tabs you start it on, by clicking its button and pressing Start (or on sites you ticked Remember for this site).
- It reloads the tab on the timer you choose.
- If you turn on Watch for changes, it reads the text of the page, or the part you picked, after each refresh and compares it with the last check, all inside your browser.
- Site access is asked for one site at a time, only for watching, keeping your scroll place, stopping when you use the page or remembering that site.
- Nothing is sent to TechyGeeksHome or to any other third party.
What is stored on your computer
RefreshGeek keeps your settings, your saved sites and the state of each running timer in your browser’s local extension storage. A short snippet of the watched text is kept only to compare with the next check. None of it is transmitted anywhere, and removing the extension deletes it.
Permissions
- alarms: keeps each tab’s timer going when the browser puts the extension to sleep.
- storage: remembers your settings, saved sites and running timers.
- notifications: shows the desktop alert when a page changes.
- scripting: reads the page text to spot changes, keeps your scroll place and adds the click-to-pick tool, only on sites you allow.
- activeTab: lets it work on the tab you are on when you click its button.
- Optional site access: asked for one site at a time, never at install.
