This policy covers the Image Format Saver browser extension, made by TechyGeeksHome.
What Image Format Saver collects
Nothing. Image Format Saver does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
How it works
- It does nothing in the background while you browse. It only acts when you right-click a picture and choose one of its options.
- It then reads that one picture, either from the website’s server or from inside the page (for pictures that need the page’s sign-in or address).
- It converts the picture inside your browser, using a hidden extension page that draws it on a canvas, and saves the new file to your Downloads folder or copies it to your clipboard.
- Nothing is sent to TechyGeeksHome or to any other third party.
What is stored on your computer
Image Format Saver saves only your settings: the quality for JPG and WebP, and whether to ask where to save each file. This stays in your browser’s local extension storage and is never transmitted anywhere. Removing the extension deletes it.
Permissions
- contextMenus: adds the Save image as JPG, PNG or WebP menu to pictures.
- activeTab and scripting: read the picture you right-clicked, on that tab only and only at that moment, and show a small Copied as PNG message.
- offscreen (Chrome and Edge): opens a hidden extension page that converts the picture.
- clipboardWrite (Firefox): puts the PNG on your clipboard for Copy as PNG.
- downloads: saves the converted file to your computer.
- storage: remembers your settings.
- Access to other sites (optional, off by default): only requested if you click Allow in the options, for picture servers that block other apps.
