This policy covers the Reddit Saver browser extension, made by TechyGeeksHome.
What Reddit Saver collects
Nothing. Reddit Saver does not collect, store, sell or share any personal information. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
How it works
- It only runs on Reddit, and only when you click its icon. It does nothing in the background while you browse.
- When you click its icon, it reads the posts on the Reddit page you have open, using Reddit’s own .json version of that page. That request runs inside your Reddit tab, so it uses your normal Reddit sign-in, exactly like Reddit’s own pages do.
- It downloads the pictures and videos from Reddit’s own servers (i.redd.it, preview.redd.it, external-preview.redd.it and v.redd.it).
- All processing, including joining video and sound, duplicate detection and building the ZIP file, happens on your own computer, inside your browser.
- Nothing is sent to TechyGeeksHome or to any other third party.
What is stored on your computer
Reddit Saver saves your filter settings (minimum size, duplicate removal and CSV options) and, for up to a day, the list of posts from your most recent read so the results tab can show them. This stays in your browser’s local extension storage and is never transmitted anywhere. Removing the extension deletes it.
Permissions
- scripting: to run Reddit’s own .json request inside your Reddit tab when you click the icon, so it uses your normal sign-in.
- Access to reddit.com and Reddit’s picture and video servers: to read the posts on the page you have open and download their pictures and videos.
- downloads: to save the ZIP file, or a single video, to your computer.
- storage: to keep your settings and the current list of posts locally.
