Saving pictures from Reddit means opening them one at a time, and Reddit often hands you a resized preview instead of the real picture. Videos are worse: save one and you usually get a clip with no sound, because Reddit keeps the sound in a separate file.
So we built Reddit Saver. It’s a free browser extension that saves the pictures, every gallery image and the videos, with their sound, from a Reddit post, a user’s posts or a whole subreddit, and hands it all to you as a single ZIP file.

What it does
Open a Reddit post, someone’s profile or a subreddit and click the Reddit Saver icon. A results tab reads the posts and shows every picture and video it found, ready to download.
- Original pictures. It fetches the original upload, not the smaller preview Reddit shows in the feed.
- Whole galleries. Every picture in a gallery post, in order.
- Videos with sound. Video and sound are downloaded at the best quality and joined into one normal MP4.
- No repeats. Crossposts and the same picture posted twice are only kept once.
- One tidy ZIP. Named after the subreddit or user and the date, with an optional CSV of titles and links.
How it works
Reddit has a plain data version of every page. Reddit Saver reads it inside your own Reddit tab, so it sees exactly what you see when you’re signed in, then downloads the pictures and videos from Reddit’s own servers. Joining video and sound, spotting duplicates and building the ZIP all happen inside your browser.
It saves what’s hosted on Reddit itself. Videos on YouTube, Imgur or Redgifs aren’t downloaded, and Reddit stops subreddit listings at around 1,000 posts.
How to install it
Store listings for Edge and Firefox are on the way. Until then, adding it yourself takes about a minute:
- Download the ZIP and unzip it somewhere you’ll keep it.
- Go to
chrome://extensions(oredge://extensions) and switch on Developer mode. - Click Load unpacked and pick the
reddit-saverfolder.
On Firefox, grab the Firefox version instead and load it from about:debugging. The Reddit Saver page walks through every step with screenshots.
A word on whose pictures they are
Saving a post doesn’t change who owns it. Reddit Saver is ideal for your own posts, or content you have permission to use. Reposting someone else’s pictures or videos still needs their permission.
