Zune Software — Where Things Stand Today
The Zune media player and its companion software were officially discontinued by Microsoft, with the Zune Marketplace and related services shut down years ago and the software itself unsupported since. If you’re trying to track down an MSI installer for the Zune software today, it’s worth knowing upfront that you won’t find one being distributed or supported by Microsoft any more — there’s no official current download source.
If you already have Zune hardware and are just trying to get music onto it, most people in this position have had better luck moving to a modern MP3 player or simply using their phone, since Zune hardware hasn’t had any official software support for a long time and drivers for current versions of Windows are not maintained.
If you’re specifically trying to recover an old installer for legacy/archival reasons, your best bet is checking whether you still have the original install media or a previous download, since third-party mirrors offering old Microsoft installers are not something we’d recommend downloading from — there’s no way to verify they haven’t been tampered with.
