2021 looks set to be a much better year for the auto industry with a number of highly anticipated releases. Sitting at the top of this list for many motorists will be the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which looks to be an incredible vehicle with new updates that could give it an edge over its main competitors – the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4.

Appearance & Interior

In terms of appearance, not a huge amount has changed but there is no reason to change such a beautiful, sleek and modern looking vehicle. The headlights are thinner than before with a new downturned grille, but it is inside where you will notice the most difference. It takes inspiration from the luxury S-Class with an elegant, sweeping dashboard and a freestanding portrait display (similar to the Tesla Model S). You can also benefit from changeable ambient lighting and even a fragrance dispenser.

The freestanding infotainment screen works like a smart speaker, which gives the motorist an incredible amount of control with the use of voice-activated commands. There are all kinds of impressive features here and the option for a 9-inch heads-up display.

Engines

In terms of engines, there will be three petrol engines available from the launch with the C300 being available with 4Matic four-wheel drive and two diesel options. Every model now has hybrid technology and plug-in hybrid models will follow shortly. The 170PS C180 engine is powered by a turbocharged 1.5litre four-cylinder petrol engine with fuel economy of up to 45mpg and a 0-62 time of 8.6 seconds.

Autonomous Features

The new C-Class also has autonomous features with the Driving Assistance Package allowing for active cruise control to work in all driving environments along with Active Steering Assist, which can keep your vehicle in the centre of the lane at speeds of up to 130mph.

Release & Pricing

It is said that the new C-Class will start deliveries in the second half of 2021 and prices start from £35,000 – while this might be more than its competitors, you will find that the incredible interior and hybrid technology gives the new C-Class the edge. When you are spending this kind of money, it is important that you protect your investment with Mercedes GAP insurance as this could save you thousands if you were to get into an accident and the vehicle was declared a total loss. The new Mercedes C-Class looks set to be a class leader upon its arrival later this year and a car that will appeal to many with its sleek style, beautiful interior, powerful performance and pioneering technology. It will certainly lay down a marker for BMW and Audi and be a vehicle that will be in demand in the coming months.
