Microsoft released an emergency update last week under CVE-2019-1367 which claimed to fix an Internet Explorer exploit. If you are now reading this post, I’m assuming that you have already noticed that having installed these set of updates, you now have print spooler problems?!
CVE-2019-1367 v1.0
As most businesses probably have, we urgently rushed out this update to all our client and server machines and then the day after is when we started to get users calling up the help desk with very strange printer problems.
It was not until the day after that, that Microsoft have come out and acknowledged that their CVE-2019-1367 update also had a bug in it – which broke the print spooler service on client machines!
So we now have to push out another Microsoft Update to fix the fix (not like we haven’t been here before!)
Microsoft Response
This official response from Microsoft to explain the bug in their update is:

Please see the Security Updates table for CVE-2019-1367 for the new updates. Note that these updates are available automatically via Windows Update, WSUS, or manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog. This release is separate from the October Update Tuesday release, which is scheduled for October 8, 2019.
