Steps
- Press the Services button on your Sky remote to open the Services menu.
- Press 0, 0, 1 on the remote, then press Select to enter the engineer’s section.
- Use the left arrow to navigate to System Reset (or the equivalent factory reset option, depending on your box’s software version).
- Follow the on-screen confirmation prompts — the box will reset and reboot, which takes several minutes.
Before You Sell or Give It Away
Beyond the recordings themselves, a factory reset also clears your box’s pairing with your Sky viewing card and account — important if you’re passing the box on, since a box that still shows your account details isn’t something you’d want handed to someone else. Note that pairing a second-hand Sky+ HD box to a new Sky account has been restricted since October 2024 (cards can no longer be paired to boxes they weren’t originally paired with), so if you’re the one receiving a used box rather than giving one away, check with Sky directly before assuming it’ll activate on your account. If the Reset Doesn’t Fully Resolve a Fault
A factory reset clears software-level issues (corrupted settings, a stuck EPG, misbehaving series links) but won’t fix a hardware fault — if the box was already showing signs of failing hardware (repeated freezing, disk noise, failure to boot) before the reset, expect the same symptoms to return afterward, at which point a repair or replacement is the next step rather than repeating the reset.Resources

I have done everything you say. However I am wondering how long does sky take to do the House cleaning? The screen stays blank for hours! I just go back to whatever I can get and nothing has changed.
Try it again.
Try it again.
I have done this and now I can’t record or when going into record the tv freezes
