Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 now with added DHCP

RSAT Update Adds the DHCP Server Console

Microsoft’s Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) let you manage Windows Server roles — Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and more — directly from a Windows 10 desktop, without needing to RDP into the server itself. A notable RSAT release added the DHCP Server console to the bundle, closing a long-standing gap for admins who’d previously had to log onto a server (or an older client) just to manage DHCP scopes and reservations. To install RSAT on a modern Windows 10/11 machine:

1. Go to Settings > Apps > Optional Features > Add a feature.
2. Search for and install “RSAT: DHCP Server Tools” (along with any other RSAT components you need, such as AD DS or DNS tools).

Once installed, the DHCP console appears alongside your other admin tools, and you can connect to and manage DHCP scopes on any server you have rights to — genuinely useful for admins who previously needed a jump box or RDP session just to touch DHCP.

Where to Find It on Windows 11 Today (Updated for 2026)

The same Optional Features path works on Windows 11, just filed under Settings > System > Optional features > View features rather than the Windows 10 Apps section. RSAT: DHCP Server Tools also shipped on Arm64-based Windows 11 PCs for the first time via a March 2026 Patch Tuesday rollout, covering Windows 11 24H2/25H2/26H1 — so it’s no longer an x64/x86-only bundle. Worth flagging for anyone still building this on a Windows 10 admin workstation specifically: Windows 10 hit its free-support end date on 14 Oct 2025 (ESU available through 12 Oct 2027), so if you’re setting up a new admin machine today, a Windows 11 workstation is the better long-term home for these tools.
