We have recently come across a problem with a VMWare vCenter Appliance where it was stuck in a repetitive boot loop and fsck failed error message.

After some investigation we found that all that was needed to fix this issue was to run the following command:

e2fsck -y /dev/sda3

It will then check for errors and fix them, once it has completed you should then reboot your vCenter Appliance and it should run through the boot sequence successfully.
