Shoretel Contacts Import Enabler Released
ShoreTel Communicator Client version 13 and above restricted the Outlook contact import feature down to just plain Contacts — removing the ability to import from SharePoint lists, Suggested Contacts, Personal Contacts, and Shared Mailbox Contacts that were available as import sources in earlier versions.

The fix

We built a small utility that restores these additional import source options for Communicator Client v13 and above.

Using it

  1. Download the tool from our Shoretel Contacts Fix page.
  2. Run the executable — you’ll be greeted with the tool’s main screen.
  3. Click Run. The program applies the necessary changes to the local machine.
  4. Reboot the machine — the changes don’t take effect until after a restart.
Once rebooted, open ShoreTel Communicator and go to Options > Outlook > Upload Options — you should now see the full set of import sources available again, matching what was available in pre-v13 Communicator.

Deploying to multiple machines

If you need to roll this out across a larger environment rather than machine-by-machine, an MSI-packaged version suitable for SCCM or Group Policy deployment can be made available — let us know in the comments if that’s something you need and we’ll look at prioritising it.

Worth Knowing Before You Deploy This Today (Updated for 2026)

If you’re maintaining an existing ShoreTel/Mitel MiVoice Connect deployment, this fix remains applicable to any Communicator Client v13-and-above install still in use. But it’s worth being aware of the platform’s current status before investing further effort here: ShoreTel is now Mitel MiVoice Connect, and the platform has been in active end-of-life wind-down — add-on and security-patch sales stopped at the end of 2024, extended licence and design support ended at the end of 2025, and full support is scheduled to end in 2029. If you’re troubleshooting Communicator on a deployment that’s due for replacement anyway, it’s worth weighing whether this fix is worth applying versus prioritising the platform migration instead.
