Football games have been in existence ever since video games have, and each year more and more realistic ones have been developed. You can now play a football management game, play video games where you are controlling the players in a match or even play football slot games like Soccer Safari. But with all the various games out there, it can be slightly confusing as to where to start when looking to enjoy the best on offer. So here are few that we would strongly recommend.
Pro Evolution 2017
Pro Evolution has always been seen as the competition to Fifa and always seemed to fall short, but with this release things seemed to change in their favour. PES 2017 saw a slower, more though out version of the game, with a lot more focus on neat build up play and a glorious sense of satisfaction when you unlock the opposition defence. PES 2017 is available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and also PC. This game is for real football lovers, the ball will go exactly where you aim and exactly at the speed you specify, one for the purists.
Fifa 10
Fifa 10 was the first game in the Fifa series that finally set the game ahead of everyone else in the market. This was the first time they introduced 360 degree player control and did so in an expert manner, you could now send a perfectly timed slide rule pass through to a striker to run onto. This game also features a lot of game modes, including Be a Pro, Ultimate team and manager mode. This was a more complete footballing experience than the gaming world had ever seen before.
Football Manager 2011
When Sports Interactive parted ways with Eidos they lost the ‘Championship Manager’ brand. This didn’t stop them continuing to create amazing football management games though. This edition of the game is possibly the greatest one that has been released and was the first one to have a 3D engine that means you could choose to watch every event of a game. The manager press conference was first introduced in Football Manager 2011, which added even more detail to a game already allowing teams from 117 leagues to be virtually manager.
Championship Manager 97/98
This version of Championship Manager was so addictive and became famously associated with the phrase ‘Just one more game’ and is seen as the daddy of football management games. Unlike the newer games you didn’t have to spend hours setting training schedules and answering questions in press conferences before getting to actually play a match. If you pressed the space bar enough times you could also complete several seasons a day and complete a career in a week.
Sensible World of Soccer
Even though it is now almost a quarter a century old this game is still remembered fondly by many. It was thought at the time it was going to be the start of something amazing, but sadly it was overtaken by the likes of Fifa. Sensible world of soccer was a fantastic continuation to Sensible Soccer
