These days there are loads of WiFi baby monitor camera’s on the market, but what should you look for when purchasing one?
For me, I want something that is reasonably priced, good quality, simple to use and something that my son is not going to be put off sleeping with it in the room (this has happened with one baby monitor camera we had!).
Finding the right product
Having looked around at these baby monitors, I found one from EsiCam which is excellently priced, very good quality, not only easy to setup and use, but also has many different ways of mounting the camera and it is shaped like a panda so my son didn’t even notice it!
Cost
The cost may differ depending upon which country you are in, but in the US it sells for around $40 and in the UK around £50. Given the one that I bought a while ago (which my son completely refuses to have in his room at night!) was over £150, this is a very good price for the technology that you are getting.
Hardware
Upon unboxing the product, it is very clear that it has been packaged very well and all the parts are well protected within the foam packaging:
Included hardware includes:
- Smart HD WiFi camera
- Power Adapter
- User Guide
- Installation Bracket
- Screws and extend tubes
- WiFi antenna (if required)
It is also very helpful that included is a US, UK and European plug converters.
The installation bracket is particularly useful as this allows you to mount the camera pretty much anywhere you want to include the wall or ceiling.
Software
Included with the product is a smart phone application that can be used with the following operating systems:
- Apple iOS
- Android
Just scan the QR code included in the instructions and install the app.
Setup within the app is very simple and all you need to do is to follow the step by step instructions. If you are connecting wirelessly, ensure that you have your WiFi security code as you will need this.
Networking and Storage
It has the ability to be connected wirelessly to your home internet connection or through using a RJ45 Ethernet cable should you wish.
It also has a TF card slot to enable you to record to a SD memory card.
What other features does it have?
It has a number of other features to help you monitor your little one including:
- HD 1080P Camera Quality
- Pan Tilt
- Motion Detection
- Alarm
- Recording (using SD card and TF slot)
- Two-Way Talk
- Night Vision
What does the camera look like?
As I stated at the top of this review, the actual camera itself is designed to look like a panda and has little black rubber ears!
Note that this photo was taken on my iPhone (I’m no professional photographer!) and with the protective plastic still on.
Where can I buy one?
