If you are trying to deploy an operating system using SCCM and you are getting an error 80220005 at the “Apply Windows Settings” step, then there can be two reasons for this.

One is that the computer name that you are trying to give to the machine is over 16 characters long and will cause a failure.

The second is if you are using MDT to give the machine name %SERIALNUMBER% and you have forgot to put either the Use MDT Package or Gather steps before setting the Task Variable.
