This is the best time to become a video gamer. This is because the games at your disposal are so many at this moment, and there is an avalanche of electronic devices to play with. No matter the type of games you will prefer, it is often easier to get into video game playing than people think.

Gaming means something different to each individual person. Some people think of their cherished gaming consoles from the past and others think of online alternatives like bingo platforms where they enjoy some of the top slots and bingo games on offer. No matter which kind of player you are, there’s no denying that gaming will have brought you closer together with someone, at some point in your life.

However, before you start your gaming journey, you will have to ask yourself two important questions that are very easy to answer. The questions are, “what kind of games do I want to play” and “what type of electronic devices are needed for those”. With precise answers to these questions, you can easily become a gamer in a few hours. However, to answer these questions properly, we’ve laid down the things you need to know.

Choose the Type of Games You Wish To Play

The first question you must ask yourself before you proceed is, “what type of games I want to play”? It is based on the answer you give that other decisions should be taken. Some games are designed for the PC and consoles, while others are meant for mobile devices. You will be making a huge mistake if you purchase an advanced smartphone, a gaming system, or a new PC, only to discover that the games you like playing are not compatible with it.

But the good thing is that there are some games that are meant for newbies. So, if you have a device at hand already, you can start playing from these. But you must get a new console if you have your eyes on the latest hits like the Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the Final Fantasy VII Remake. Apart from that, the best option is to start with games that are compatible with the electronics you already own.

The games mentioned below have been certified wonderful for new players who are not sure of what to start with. But if you check through, and none of them interests you, then you can use Google to discover thousands of others, as you will always find something that tickles your fancy.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

This is a low stakes and laidback game that could be played on Nintendo switch. Here, you have to transform a desert into an oasis however you deem fit. The island is populated by characters that will make you laugh, giving the game a touch of humor. You are also tasked to upgrade your home and also take part in seasonal events.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

This is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox 1 and the PC. This is among the pioneer first person shooter games out there. Newbies may find it difficult to play it online. But you can learn and master the game through the demo version.

Minecraft:

This could be enjoyed on any device at all. It is about the open world where you apply your creativity in everything. You can play this game anyhow you want, and there is a lot of content to contend with that you will not even notice the below par graphics. This does not demand much resources, so you can pick up your PC or smartphone and try it out now.

Mario Kart 8:

Mario Kart 8 is available on the Nintendo Switch and can be accessed with ease. It is a racing game that incorporated some famous old Super Mario game characters. The good way to start is to play against the computer offline, before heading online to slug it out with other players.

Buy the Necessary Devices

After selecting the games you prefer to start with, you have to ask the next question, which is, “what device I need for the games”?  Asides from the system, you must also think about the other accessories like keyboard, controller, or mouse that you will also need for the games. In most cases, these other accessories are sold together with the main hardware, and wouldn’t be a problem to you. But if you get them and think that the accessories are not giving you what you want, then you can easily upgrade any time. The options available are.

PC: With the pc, you can enjoy all the big titles and some of the smaller indie types. You are advised to get a prebuilt gaming PC. However, you can also build your own.

PlayStation 4: This stands among the most powerful of all the gaming consoles out there, and it harbors some exclusive titles like the Persona 5, God of War, and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Xbox one: This is the next in the league of the powerful consoles, and it comes with titles like Forza 7, Halo 5, and Gears 5.

Nintendo switch: This may not give the same power like the aforementioned two, but it is a very portable gaming console that you can rely on. In the library, you will have titles like the Super Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Android and iOS: Many people are choosing mobile gaming as an alternative to console and PC gaming. While you may not get the same quality of gaming from these devices, you can still enjoy some amazing titles here, including the Super Mario Run, Black Desert Online, and Call of Duty: Mobile.

Last Generation Consoles: Those who are looking for something very affordable can choose the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. The system and the games they come with will cost you less than what the new generation systems will cost. But you won’t enjoy the newer games on them.

All you need to do is look through the best games available on each of the systems, and see the system that delivers the games you prefer to play. This should determine your choice.

Our Advice

If after reading the piece above, you still have not decided which games to choose, you should see it as a problem. The world of video gaming is full of amazing titles, but selecting the ones to start or stick with could be very difficult. To help you have a good start, we will advise you to look for those casual and free to play games on diverse genres like Cut the Rope, Black Desert Mobile, Mario Kart Tour and Call of Duty: Mobile on your phone and start with them. Majority of them also have room for competitive play. That will make it easy for you to migrate to multiplayer or competitive play once you’ve mastered the games.

Your PC can also give you numerous free to play games. Titles like Apex Legends, the sci-fi shooter Warframe, and Fortnite will always be available on any powerful PC. If you do not love shooter games, you can try your hands on Brawlhalla the brawling game or Gwent the free card game. You can enjoy these games free for many hours without the need to spend money.
