If you have got the Windows 10 upgrade tray icon on your Windows 7 or 8 computer and you do not want the upgrade, you may want to remove the annoying icon from your tray. To do this, you need to remove a Windows Update and then hide it so that it does not return.

To do this, go into your Control Panel and then go into Programs and Features. Then go to the left hand column and click on the “View Installed Updates” link.

This will bring up all the updates that have been installed on your computer, but you need to find the following update: KB3035583. Once you have found this update, just right click on it and select “Uninstall”.

Once you have uninstalled it, you should run Windows Update again and it should find this update again, then right click on it and select “Hide Update”.

Once this has completed then you should reboot and the icon should not return.
